Dr. Ulbricht had studied chemistry, received his doctoral degree (Dr. rer. nat.) in 1987 from Humboldt University Berlin, Germany, and his habilitation (Dr. habil.) from the same university in 1997. He also worked as researcher in Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY, USA (1992-1993), and at GKSS Research Center Geesthacht, Teltow, Germany (1997-1999). He was founder and CEO of the private company ELIPSA GmbH in Berlin (1999-2003). Since 2001, he is a full professor for chemical technology at University of Duisburg-Essen. He is serving as editor of Journal of Membrane Science since 2020. He is also in the Editorial Boards of \u201cPolymer\u201d, \u201cSeparation and Purification Technology\u201d and \u201cMembranes\u201d. Dr. Ulbricht has over 30 years of experience in organic and polymer chemistry as well as chemical engineering. In the focus of his research are functional polymeric and nanohybrid materials, including synthetic membranes and membrane-based technologies for water purification, bioseparation and energy conversion. Topics of special expertise include organic membrane materials, membrane formation and preparation, surface functionalization, membrane characterization, fouling, water treatment and desalination, and bioseparation. She has over 10 years of experience in developing carbon-based materials with tailored compositions and pore structures for use in various applications.\u00a0She earned her master’s and doctoral degrees in electrochemistry, both with distinction and honorable mention at the university level.\u00a0I then did postdoctoral research in the Colloid Chemistry Department at the Max Planck Institute for Colloids and Interfaces, where she led the Ancient Chemistry for New Advanced Materials group for over three years.\u00a0During this time she supervised a group of up to 11 people as part of an ERC Synergy Grant (MoMaStor).\u00a0During her scientific career, she gained valuable experience in the field of sustainable materials chemistry, focusing on the preparation and optimization of more environmentally friendly synthetic routes for advanced nanocarbons.\u00a0<\/span>Her current research focuses on the preparation of highly nitrogen-doped carbonaceous materials and understanding their interaction with electrolytes, gas adsorbers and the stabilization of subnanometer metallic catalyst sites.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Michael Eisinger studied biology at the Karl Ruprechts University in Heidelberg and marine biology at Northeastern University, USA. He received his PhD from the University of Duisburg-Essen on a coral reef ecology topic with numerous stays in Egypt and Jordan. He then worked in Yemen as a trainer for project staff of UNDP and World Bank projects and as a consultant in environmental impact studies. In 2016, he returned to the University of Duisburg-Essen and has been managing director of the interdisciplinary Center for Water and Environmental Research (ZWU), a regional water network including water experts from the academic and non-academic sector.), since 2017. Stefan Panglisch is the Chair of Mechanical Process Engineering\/Water Technology (MVT\/WT) at the University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE). Linked to the professorship is a position as Scientific Director at the Rheinisch-Westf\u00e4lisches Institut f\u00fcr Wasserforschung (IWW), a nationally and internationally renowned research and consulting institute. He is also Managing Director of the German Society for Membrane Technology (DGMT), a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the WIS Defence Science Institute of the German Armed Forces and a board member of the ZWU – Centre for Water and Environmental Research at the University of Duisburg-Essen.\u00a0Before taking up this position, Stefan Panglisch was head of the R&D department at inge GmbH (now a DuPont brand), one of the world’s leading technology providers for ultrafiltration technology. Dr Guoqing Guan is a professor of Hirosaki University, Japan. He received his B.S., M.S. and PhD degrees in Chemical Engineering from Sichuan University, China and Kyushu University, Japan, in 1990, 1993,1995 and 2004. He is an Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellow (from 2004), Germany. His research interests include sustainable energy system, coal and biomass pyrolysis and gasification, biorefinery, heterogeneous catalysts for energy conversion, energy materials and water splitting. He has published 450+ international peer reviewed SCI papers, 65+ patents and 22+ book chapters with a H-index 63. He is now serving as associate editors of Carbon Resources Conversion and MetalMat; and editorial board members of Fuel Processing Technology and Resources Chemicals and Materials.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Dr Abdoulaye Doucour\u00e9 joined ITA International<\/em> (Virginia, USA) as Senior Research Scientist in 2023, a private company specialized in delivering security, data analytics and environmental testing services with a global outreach. His work focuses on developing nano-enabled tools for addressing health risk exposures associated with engineered materials and micropollutants. He has previously supported the R&D department of Hollingsworth & Vose<\/em> (HV) for 11 years, a leading manufacturer of synthetic nonwoven products for the filtration and energy storage industry. Prior to HV, Abdoulaye worked in the R&D department of <\/span>Pall Corporation <\/em>(New York) for 11 years, one of the largest global suppliers of filtration and separation products. His key accomplishments include the development and commercialization of wettable fluoropolymer membranes for the semiconductor industry, new protocols for fabricating\/testing microporous membranes for bio-separation, and design of fouling-resistant nanofiltration membranes and modules for municipal water treatment.<\/span><\/p>\n
